In March of 2010 Howard Nitschke passed way. Howard spent his entire 36-year professional career in
retained executive search. He was based in San Francisco, CA and
Aspen, CO. His specialty was the acquisition of senior
executives for a select group of clients. Executives he
recruited were identified through effective data-mining and
networking as the leading executives and their field and in
their company. The vast majority of his finalists were not
seeking a new position when they are approached. His industry
specialty was high quality media, internet & technology
In 2002,
Howard founded 21-Group.com. From that starting point, the firm
has become a 12 Partner national consulting firm serving brand
name technology, health care, media and financial services
clients.
Prior to
21-Group, Howard was recruited to create and lead the technology
executive search practice for Spherion’s Executive Search
Division. Starting from scratch, within two years the
technology practice had become accepted as one of the better
tech practices in Silicon Valley.
Previous to
Spherion, Howard was a Partner with TASA, the European based
global executive search firm that was purchased by TMP in 1998.
Based in San Francisco at the height of the dotcom era, Howard
continued to serve a variety of major Silicon Valley technology
companies while also having a variety of dotcom's as clients.
The first
global firm that recruited Howard as a Partner was Korn Ferry
International. This occurred because Korn Ferry purchased
Deane, Howard & Simon as the first piece of what became their
global technology practice. They purchased Deane, Howard &
Simon because during its 15 year existence DH&S had been
selected to Executive Recruiter New’s list of the “50 Leading
Firms” nine times. Howard founded this firm at the age of 23.
Howard held
a BA in Criminal Justice from the University of New Haven and an
MS in Organization Behavior from the University of Hartford.
