Based in Silicon Valley, Eileen Nelson is a Partner in 21-
Group, specializing in high tech, human
resources and marketing search. Prior to joining 21-Group, Eileen was Sr. Vice President, Human Resources for
eBay Corporation. eBay grew from 1800 to 4000 employees and
significantly increased their global presence during Eileen's
tenure, and she was responsible for all aspect of human
resources, staffing, compensation & benefits, HRIS,
organization and management development.
Prior to eBay, Eileen spent 13 years at 3Com Corporation. As
Sr. Vice President, Corporate Services, from 1998 to 2001 she
was responsible for global Human Resources, Employee
Communication and Corporate Philanthropy. Growing from 1200
to 14,000+ employees during Eileen's tenure, 3Com Corporation
was a Fortune 500 company. Eileen joined 3Com in
1988, leading HR for their Hardware Products division and
working with the Founder, Bob Metcalfe. From 1988 to 1998, she
managed HR for every business segment in the company before
being named SVP, Corporate Services in 1998. In that
capacity, she and her team led all aspects of HR, staffing,
comp & benefits, HRIS, succession planning, learning &
organization development, and employee communications. She was
a key leader in mergers and acquisitions activity, including
the acquisition of US Robotics and Palm, and the subsequent
spinoff of Palm as an independent subsidiary.
Prior to 3Com, Eileen was Vice President, HR & Administration
for Davong Systems, HR Director for Tandon Corporation, and HR
Manager for Unisys Corporation's Program Products Applications
Division.
Eileen attended City University of NY's Queens College, and
the Columbia University Advanced Program in Organization
Development and Human Resources. She sits on the Board of
Directors of the eBay Foundation, Ballet San Jose,
TheatreWorks, and SpringBoard Forward, all non-profit
organizations in the arts and human services.
